At Crowdfund-360, we are passionate about empowering entrepreneurs and changemakers to bring their ideas to life. This mission was brought to the forefront once again as our very own Jes Baikins delivered an awe-inspiring masterclass on crowdfunding to enterprise students at Goldsmiths, University of London.

“awe-inspiring masterclass on crowdfunding”, Femi Yusuuf, Goldsmiths University of London

The seminar, designed to equip students with practical knowledge and real-world insights, couldn’t have come at a better time. With recent surveys showing that one in five university students are considering launching their own business after graduation, understanding the nuances of startup finance is more important than ever. Jes’s session provided a comprehensive overview of crowdfunding—a tried and tested method for raising capital and building a supportive community around new ventures.

Drawing from her years of experience as the founder of Crowdfund-360, Jes guided students through the origins of crowdfunding, tracing its roots back to the 19th century. She emphasized the importance of understanding your “why” before launching a campaign, and shared both the advantages and challenges of crowdfunding in today’s landscape. With less than 25% of campaigns succeeding in the UK, Jes’s practical advice on planning, content creation, and follow-up strategies will prove invaluable.

One of the highlights of the seminar was Jes’s deep dive into what makes a winning crowdfunding campaign. She provided a step-by-step guide, from the initial planning stages to building compelling content and engaging with supporters. Students left with actionable tips and a clearer understanding of how to navigate the complexities of crowdfunding.

Networking was another key theme, with Jes illustrating how primary, secondary, and tertiary networks can play a pivotal role in campaign success. Her insights resonated with attendees, many of whom are at the beginning of their entrepreneurial journeys.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to Goldsmiths, University of London, and especially to Femi Yusoof and Belinda Heys from the Goldsmiths University Careers Service, for making this event possible. The positive feedback and engagement from students highlight the value of such sessions in inspiring the next generation of entrepreneurs.

At Crowdfund-360, we look forward to continuing our work with educational institutions and aspiring founders, helping them turn their visions into reality through the power of crowdfunding.
